All ELC AMEP clients have an informal language assessment before they are placed in a class.
Language assessments are carried out by our trained Educational Counsellors using the International Second Language Proficiency Ratings (ISLPR) scale. This is the assessment tool recommended by the Australian Government. It allows the counsellor to select the best English course for your level. You will be assessed in all four language skills (Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing) and will be given a written record of your results.
How can the Language Assessment Service help you?
Language assessments are useful for acceptance into courses of study at TAFE or university, or resolution of status (for permanent residence status).
Who can use the Language Assessment Service?
Anyone of non English speaking background can use this service.
Employers or Job Network providers wanting an assessment of a person's language skills can also arrange for a formal assessment and study recommendation.
To make an appointment for an assessment call us and explain the purpose of the assessment so the receptionist can allow enough time.
